One of My Greatest Discoveries In Ministry
It is normal for a minister to try all he can to attract rich people. The reason is simple, it takes money to run a ministry. He must pay bills and take care of a lot of things.
But I discovered that your helpers may not necessarily be the rich people you know. The reason is because most wealthy individuals are under pressure to grow their businesses. They have big responsibilities and you are not one of them.
If God sends you on an assignment, then you must go back to Him for support. The Sender (God) is the Payer!
Guess what? God hardly use rich people to support His servants. He told Elijah to go to the brook Cherith and a raven brought food for him twice a day. The brook dried up and God did not tell Elijah to look for a billionaire or an industrialist.
He said to him; “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” 1 Kings 17:19.
God sent his servant to a widow who was fetching firewood to cook the last meal in the house. That is how God supports His servants. Stop looking for rich people.
God will send ravens in form of ordinary people. It has happened to me several times.
Jesus needed to pay tax at Capernaum and fish provided the money. In fact, those who supported His ministry were not influential people. There were mostly people that had passion for His ministry.
Luke puts it this way; “Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.” Lule 8:1-3.
My advise is have your own source of income to run the ministry.
Paul said; “Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.” Philippians 4:15-17.
He could say that because he was a tent maker. He had a profession that generated income. He didn’t go about defrauding people. Others supported him willingly, not out of compulsion!
That is my stand in ministry. Forget those who are hailing you, ask the Sender to support you. The day you beg those who are hailing you now for money is the last day they will pick your call.
If you are genuinely called by God, I declare you will never lack support. When all hope is lost, God will show Himself mighty in your life and ministry in Jesus matchless name!
