On Fire for God!

Whenever I am conducting training for ministers I usually fire them up with this topic during the last session. I have lengthy slides on this subject that will take at least two full-length articles to cover, but I believe this abridged version will inspire you.

You must understand that God does nothing on earth unless He finds a man who is ready. When a farmer wants to work, he looks for hoes, cutlasses and sickles. When a physician wants to work he looks for thermometers, stethoscope, patella hammer etc. When a surgeon wants to work he looks for surgical blades, forceps etc.

When a tailor wants to work he looks for measuring tape, scissors, needles and thread. When God wants to work He looks for men and women. People are His weapon. You are God’s instrument on the face of the earth.

Anytime there is a problem in a family, community or a nation, what God contends with at that time is not the powerfulness of the devil, but the scarcity of prepared men and women. The shortage of prepared men. When God hears the cry of a generation, He looks for a general.” ~Dr. Paul Enenche.

God is looking for men and women who are ready to be used by Him. He wants to move in an unusual dimension, but He is looking for vessels that are ready for that dimension.

Unfortunately, there is so much weakness, laziness and laxity in our generation. Only few people are ready to donate themselves for the Master’s use.

We rather gather in one little coner to argue about irrelevant things than to donate ourselves to God. We gather in our various churches and communities to quarrel and fight one another instead of enrolling into the end-time army of God.

Few years ago, I took a risk for the sake of the Kingdom. I travelled close to a village in the North at the peak of the Boko Haram sucide attacks and I discovered that the place was ripe for the gospel. I came back and asked for volunteers that will spend at least one month at that village to win souls, and just one or two persons volunteerd.

Haven’t you discovered that anyone that says that God called him into the ministry will either establish his church in Lagos, Portharcourt or Abuja? Nobody talks about the core North.

Ancient Mantles

I like reading the books of the ministers of the old. Their stories and exploits sets my heart on fire. These men and women put their lives on the line for the sake of the Kingdom.

One of them held gospel crusades for 21 straight days on an empty stomach. And the interesting thing is that he is still alive. He is still travelling around the world spreading the gospel in his 80s.

I read the story of John Wesley in a book that provoked me. The church then refused to allow him to preach because of the kind of radical message he was preaching.

Guess what? He took his pulpit to his father’s grave and began to preach. Few days later, tens of thousands of people gathered there to listen to him.

I strongly believe that when a minister of God is on fire, people will definitely pay attention to him. When a house is on fire, you don’t tell people to stop and help out or to watch. Fire attracts people.

When a minister of God is on fire he doesn’t ask for invitations for ministration. In fact, he won’t have chance for the kind of invitations that will be pouring in.

Fire Attracts People.

John the Baptist was an unusual man. He was a strange man so to say. Look at how the Bible described him; “Now John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey.” Matthew 3: 4.

He was a strange man but he was emitting fire. He went to the wilderness to preach and people went there to be baptized.

“In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight.’ ” Now John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey. Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him and were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.” Matthew 3:1-6.

Are You Ready for Price?

One of the frontline ministers of God in Nigeria today spent one whole year in the camp to prepare for his ministry. I mean, he abandoned everything and stayed with God for engracement and instructions. That is why God is using him mightly today.

Of course, if you are not a full time minister you should have a source of income, but you should not allow it to kill your ministry.

Declare days and weeks of intensive and extensive prayer. Go for personal retreat. Pray as if your life depends on prayer. I don’t mean asking God for things or binding your anemies; I mean heart-to-heart fellowship with the Father.

Talking about the prayer life of Jesus, Brother Mark reported that; “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.” And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons.” Mark 1:35-39.

Some Bible scholars said that Jesus prayed for over five hours every morning. That is how to generate enough fire for ministerial exploits.

You can see that after praying for hours, He went to different places to preach, heal and cast out devils. That is what ministry is all about.

This is just an introduction to this subject. Hopefully, I will post the second part soon. But I want you to donate your life to God for the sake of the Kingdom expansion project on earth.
