Christ the Power of God and the Wisdom of God (Bible Study)
“But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” 1 Corinthians 1:24-25
I think what caused it is the way we present the gospel to people. We tell people that once they become Christians they will be heavenly minded and earthly useless. When people discover that you are a Christian, they will conclude that you are a lost cause.
We make Christianity seem burdensome and difficult. We present Christianity to people as a movement of strugglers, uninteresting fellows and unfriendly individuals. That is why young people are gradually leaving the church. They feel that once they become serious with God they won’t achieve much in life. But that is not true. We are misleading people through our lifestyle.
Some examples…
R. G. LeTourneau, a French man, a born-again Christian invented the earth moving machine which is the precursor to bulldozers and pail-loaders. It was from him that Caterpillar got the idea of all their products.
Ben Carson, an elder in his church, a renowned pediatric neurosurgeon rediscovered a surgery called “hemispherectomy” in which you operate half of the brain and the person will still lead a healthy life. He once stood for 72 hours in the theatre to separate Siamese twins conjoined behind their heads.
Henry Heinz, a born-again Christian, invented the technology of packaging baked beans, vegetable etc.
Sir James Simpson invented the “chloroform” used during surgery to induce patients to sleep. Prior to that, hefty men were deployed at the theatre to pin down patients during surgery.
Orville and Wilbur Wright, the two sons of a bishop, gave the world the airplane.
William Kellogg, a tither in his church, gave us cornflakes. He started tithing from ten percent to ninety percent of his income throughout his lifetime.
Jonathan Dickson and Presbyterian leaders founded the world renowned Princeton University in America.
Alexander Flaming gave the world penicillin.
Sir Isaac Newton gave us the Law of Gravity, Calculus, Dynamics and the Law of Motion etc.
What do we do today? We carry big Bibles, gather in one corner to bind demons and kill our enemies! We watch things happen without making contributions.
While writing to the church at Corinth, Paul opined:
“But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” 1 Corinthians 1:24-25
My attention is on verse 24. Paul used two important words in that verse—power and wisdom.
The Greek translation of power in that verse is Dunamai. It means to be able, to have power to show ability, enabled by God, empowered etc.
Paul said that Jesus Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. It simply means that when I received Jesus into my heart, His power and wisdom were released to me. You cannot receive Christ into your heart and be bankrupt of power and wisdom!
Enabled by God
If you are a Christian, you don’t have any reason to be stranded in life. You don’t have the right to lag behind in life and use being a Christian as an excuse. You have the advantage that occult grandmasters don’t have. You have the advantage that unbelievers don’t have. You have the supernatural enablement to become a pacesetter in your generation.
Do you know what it means to be enabled by God? The same God who created the whole world. The One who spoke the world into existence. The One who created everything, and nobody created Him.
Take a look at this; God created the sky, moon, sun, the stars, and suspended them without pillars. They have never needed re-adjustment or servicing ever since. The star called Betelgeuse is 1.234 billion kilometers wide. The distance between the Earth and Betelgeuse is about 642.5 light years. It will take 650 years to reach Betelgeuse from planet Earth. About 1.3 million earths can fit into Betelgeuse.
The distance between the earth and the sun is about 149.6 million kilometers. The sun is 864,400 miles (1,391,000) across. The sun weighs about 333,000 times as much as the earth. It is so large that about 1,300,000 planet earths can fit into it.
The distance between the Moon and the Earth is about 384,400 kilometers. The Moon surface area is about 14.6 million square miles (38 million square kilometers). The Moon is smaller than the Earth. About fifty Moons would fill the earth.
The heart beats 70 times a minute, with each beat, it pumps 60 to 90 milliliters (2 to 3 ounces) of blood out of the heart. It can move 5 to 7 liters of blood in one minute and 7,600 liters (2,000 gallons) per day. In a lifetime, the heart will beat over 2.5 billion times, pumping over 200 million liters of blood. God created them all.
The world should be learning from Christians not the other way round. You are positioned on earth to do exploits, to work miracles, do wonders and make undeniable impact. If you are born again it means you have an added advantage because Jesus the power of God lives in you!
Supreme Intelligence
Wisdom is labor saving device. Wisdom is supernatural ability to decode mysteries and break down difficult issues. Jesus is the wisdom of God and Jesus lives in you. It means by redemption; you are empowered with supreme intelligence.
Jesus said: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16.

Let people see your exploits and follow you to Jesus. That is the kind of Christianity I want to see in Africa. If millions of Christians across Africa understand this, we will take over this continent and transform it.
“For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.” Romans 8:19.
Go and transform your world with supernatural emblement and supreme intelligence.
I declare that from this day, you will stand out. You will break records. You will generate results that will make people to follow you to Jesus Christ. Go and do exploits in Jesus matchless Name! Amen.
