Purpose Driven Money

Why do you want to be wealthy? Why do you want to be financially free? Why do you want to have plenty money?

Have you ever asked and answered these questions?

I discovered that many people hustle daily to be rich just for the sake of it. People want to break out of poverty and squalor as fast as possible, but they have not really ascertained what they will do with the money.

Money without purpose is the reason people rush to their towns and villages to grab other people’s lands once they have wealth and influence.

Money without purpose is the reason a man used security agents to arrest and kill the only son of his late brother so that he can take over his landed property.

Money without purpose is the reason young men go about using young women like tissue paper. They go about searching for vulnerable young ladies to destroy.

Money without purpose is the reason people make life unbearable for their kinsmen once they become rich. They divide kindred meetings. They divide clans and extended family members. They ruin age-long ties and turn brothers and sisters into enemies overnight.

When you hear some money miss road boast about their attrocities, you’ll understand the full meaning of money without purpose. They brag about the number of people they jailed illegally because they are highly connected. They terrorize everybody just to massage their egos and be feared by everybody. That is money without purpose.

I am sure you have heard about people that made money, went to their towns, bribed some people and started fighting to be the next king by force. They will do everything possible to sit on that throne just because they have money. They will ruin the pattern for selecting kings and divide peaceful towns. That is money without purpose.

Before you even start praying to be wealthy, you should tell God what you will do with the money. Close your eyes and tie your desire around a goal. Tie your desire for wealth around a purpose. Tell God specifically what you will do if He helps you to become a millionaire in dollars. Otherwise, you may wake up one day and become a monster.

What then is money with purpose?

It is having a goal you want to accomplish before you even make $10,000. You sit down and have an agreement between yourself and God—“If I become a multimillionaire, I will do xyz to put smiles on the faces of people.”

In fact, people who wants to become money missionaries start with the little they have. From their meagre salary or profit, they have monthly budget to meet the needs of others. They have some individuals and organizations they make donations to periodically. They don’t want to be rich just for the sake of it, they want to use money to fulfil an assignment.

The following are four reasons why we need money:

(1). To Live a Stress-free Life.

There is nothing wrong with aspiring to live a comfortable life. Paul said, “Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.” 1 Timothy 6:17.

Increasing Your capacity for Exploits

God wants you to live a comfortable life. He wants you to get to a level where you’ll never be bothered about bills or fees till you die. That is the realm of supernatural abundance. A realm where all your needs are met before they show up; all you are bothered about is how to meet the needs of others.

When you become financially free, you will give your children better life. They will attend schools that will give them the wings to fly faster than their peers. They will be exposed to opportunities that their peers read in books. There are many good reasons you should aspire to make money. Begging is shameful. Living from hand to mouth is not honorable. Paying house rent for life is not honorable either. You need money to live a comfortable life.

(2). To Help the Less Privileged in the Society.

This is where you become a conduit pipe for God to wire blessings to others. You become a distribution center for humanity. Paul said, “Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.” 1 Timothy 6:18-19.

If we decide from this day that the major reason we are aspiring to be rich is to do good, this world will become a better place. If you and I can vow from this day that we are not accumulating wealth just for ourselves and offspring (there is nothing wrong with that), but we want to become distribution channels, there will be world peace.

I am not in any way asking anybody to sponsor laziness. Not at all. And by the way, helping people is not necessarily giving them cash. For the past three years we have been running Inspire Africa Project Conference in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. It is a free conference where young people are transformed so that they can transform Africa. It cost millions of Naira to run that kind of conference. We have not given out cash, but we have given value that helps people to break out of poverty.

You can help humanity by simply establishing a nongovernmental organization that is geared towards dealing with a particular issue in your community, state or nation. It could be mentoring young ladies and establishing small scale business for them. But by all means, aspire to tie a purpose around your money.

(3). To Sponsor the Gospel.

The gospel is free, but we need money to organize crusades, print Bibles, tracts, handbills, banners, build worship centers, train priests and pastors, send missionaries to the ends of the earth etc. In fact, other religions are growing very fast because their members are contributing billions of dollars to their central purse annually.

While we are arguing about tithe and seed, their members who run corporations give over fifty percent of their annual profit to their religion. An Indian conglomerate gives out about 66 percent of its profit to charitable causes annually including the religion of the founder.

To win souls we need money. That could be your goal. To make enough money to spread the gospel. So, every month, you budget what to give and which church to give it to. It could be your church or churches in remote villages that hardly get enough offering to cater for widows and orphans. You simply call the priest or pastor and wire the money to them. It doesn’t matter how much you send—just send something. It could be $10 monthly or $100,000. Whatever you can raise, do it cheerfully.

When it comes to the Kingdom of God everybody must play a part. Either you go, groan or give. Either you preach, pray for those who are preaching or pay to assist those who are going for soul winning. Don’t be a bystander in the Kingdom. Play a part. Be part of the Kingdom expansion project on earth.

Unfortunately, from my findings, it is easier for people to pray and preach than to sponsor those who are going for missionary assignments. In fact, the negotiation between Moses and Pharaoh points to the fact that some people are saved, but their money is not yet saved. Let’s consider the negotiation.

First negotiation: “So Pharaoh said, “I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only you shall not go very far away. Intercede for me.” Exodus 8:28.

You can go and serve your God but don’t go too far. Surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ but don’t be committed or dedicated. Don’t kill yourself after all you came to this city to make money. You better mind your business. Don’t go too far.

Second negotiation: “Then Pharaoh called to Moses and said, “Go, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be kept back. Let your little ones also go with you.” Exodus 10:24.

All right, you can go and serve your God, but leave your seed and tithe behind. You can serve God, be dedicated, be committed, but don’t go with your money. Leave it behind. When your church needs those who will fast and pray, volunteer to fast. When they need the people who will represent them at events, volunteer to go. Whenever they mention financial assistance, behave as if you didn’t hear what they are saying. People like that behave as if money is their god. They can do anything for God, but don’t touch their money.

But Moses said to Pharaoh:

“You must also give us sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God. Our livestock also shall go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind. For we must take some of them to serve the LORD our God, and even we do not know with what we must serve the LORD until we arrive there.” Exodus 10:25-26.

That is; how can we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ and leave our wealth behind? The reason God gave us the wealth in the first place is to serve Him. Therefore, we are surrendering everything to Him. If He wants us to serve, we will serve Him. If He needs our time, we will make it available. If He needs our money, we will give it to Him too.

Because Moses was ready to give God access to all they have, this happened;

“Then he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, “Rise, go out from among my people, both you and the children of Israel. And go, serve the LORD as you have said. Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also.” And the Egyptians urged the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead.” So, the people took their dough before it was leavened, having their kneading bowls bound up in their clothes on their shoulders. Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked from the Egyptians articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing. And the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus, they plundered the Egyptians.” Exodus 12:31-36 (NKJV).

When you become a money missionary, God will make sure you never lack resources all the days of your life. So, my dear friend, choose to evangelize with your money today. You may not know how to preach, but you can do that with your money. Meet your church leaders right now and ask for what you can do to help them win more souls.

(4). To Make Positive Contributions to Humanity.

There are people that sponsor research institutes that are searching for cure for cancer, malaria and other deadily diseases that are ravaging continents like Africa.

Just imagine having a monthly budget for different research firms on earth. You have a budget for UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund), WHO and other organizations that fights for women and children.

Maternal mortality is a major concern for us in Africa. In fact, according to World Health Organization, the MMR (Maternal Mortality Rate) of Nigeria is 814 (per 100,000 live births). That is, out of every 100,000 births in Nigeria, 814 women will die.

Someone can say that his goal is to build world class mother and child hospitals across his nation or Africa. A place that is well equipped with world class medical doctors and all services will be rendered free of charge to mothers and children, especially pregnant mothers.

You can also establish a nongovernmental organization that is geard towards sponsoring brilliant young people to different elective positions in your state or nation. Your job is to discover them and give them the money and influence that will help them to win elections and transform your nation.

I see life as a gift given to us by God to make positive contributions to humanity. Your life is a seed, plant it correctly so that you can give succour to the downtrodden.

Candle does not loose anything by lighting other candles. Rather, you’ll make the world brighter anytime you light more candles. You gain nothing by just acquiring only toys that does not have eternal value.

Wisdom is profitable to direct!

  1. I never thought of giving to organization like WHO, UNICEF etcetera, as a gift for good of humanity not until today.

    Thank you sir.

    1. There are many organizations you can help to achieve their objectives. Just engage in a thorough search and you’ll find them. Start from your town and Church. Keep soaring!

  2. Same me. Never thought of giving WHO or UNICEF until now.

Truly, all points listed as the reasons why we need money is what I agree with. I want to be able to support in Billions of Dollars and Pounds to Organizations, people, the Gospel course and also to live a Life of Abundance. So Help me God as I hustle.
